Lucy C. BOWEN

OBITUARY:Lucy, wife of Samuel B. Grayson, was born Jan. 1, 1857, died at her
home Sunday afternoon, Sept. 25, 1910, at 3:15 o'clock, age 53 years, 8 months,
24 days.  She was the daughter of William and Eliza Jane Bowen.  She was
married to Samuel B. Grayson, March 29, 1879.  To this union four children were
born, two boys and two girls.  Clarence, the oldest child, passed over the
river when four years of age.  One son, Earl, two daughters, Maude and Pearl,
with the husband are left to mourn the loss of a faithful wife and a kind and
loving mother.  In Feb. 1873, she gave her heart to God and united with the
Baptist church at Sardinia, remaining a faithful contributing member until
called higher.  Sister Grayson was of a happy genial disposition and made
friends wherever she went.  Her was the home of the preacher and many were the
warm welcomes given the writer as he enjoyed her home and hospitality.  She
believed in that "Faith delivered to the Saints," and tried to live the Christ
life.  That faith bouyed her up during her sickness and suffering.  Near
11 o'clock Saturday evening she heard the call, "Be ready."  Calling her family
to her bedside she bade them good-bye and asked them to meet her in that "House
not made with hands," eternal in the heavens.  The last moments were the
opening of the "Gates of Glory."  She poured out her prayers to a throne of
Grace and then asked that someone saing.  All who were present were conscious
of God's presence....
