NEWSPAPER ARTICLE-LOCAL WOMAN TO BE 100--Mrs. Eva G. Wheatley will celebrate
her 100th birthday anniversary ar an "open house" to be held from 2 to 4
o'clock Sunday afternoon at her home at 435 N. West St. Tipton.
Mrs. Wheatley was born in Prairie Township, Tipton County, the daughter of John
T. and Lucinda Smith Grayson.  She spent the first 37 years of her life on a
farm.
At the age of 20, she and W. Seth Wheatley were married at Normanda on Dec. 23,
1892.  They continued to live on the farm in Prairie Township until February,
1909.
After they moved to Tipton, Mr. Wheatley worked with the Binkley Buggy Co. and
later the Stokely company.
Mr. and Mrs. Wheatley had been married more than 71 years when he died in
March, 1963.
Mrs, Wheatley has one son and a daughter-in-law, Gordy and Fern McKinney
Wheatley living in Tipton.  Seth J. Wheatley of Clinton, Tenn., and Mrs. Judy
Hall of Houston, Tex. are her grandchildren.  Mrs. Maude Wilson, her sister who
is 92 years old, lives in Tipton.
Mrs. wheatley is a member and a regular attendant at the West Street Christian
Church.  She has been a member of an Extension Homemakers Club for more than 60
years.
Mrs. Dorothy Bunch, Mrs. Wheatley's friend and companion, said today that Mrs.
Wheatley is still quite active, keeping busy crocheting.  During the past year,
she crochted afghans for each of her six grandchildren.
During her senior years she has overcome a broken hip and a wrist injury and
was also hospitalized for treatment for injuries she received in a minor fall
at home.  After she was dismissed from the hospital she resumed crocheting
a cape.
Mrs. Wheatley will be the second Tipton County woman to become a centenarion in
1972.  On March 31, Mrs. Mary Cathern Wheatley of Kempton, believed to be not
related, also marked her 100th birthday.

OBITUARY - Mrs. Earl Grayson -

Greensburg, Ind (Spl.) -- Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in
the J.H. Porter and Sons Funeral Home for Mrs Katherine M. Grayson, 67 years
old, Greensburg, who died late Wednesday in Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
She was reared in Warrick  County but had lived in Decatur County since her
marriage to Earl C. Grayson.

Mrs. Grayson was a member of the Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern
Star.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Dolakld Martin of
Greensbug, and a son, Earl Grayson of Columbus.
